The Colored Pencil Roll

Unlike traditional wood encased colored pencils, Woodless Colored Pencils are solid sticks of lead pigments with a lacquer coating, which makes their quality oil pastel or crayon-like. Each high-density pencil includes FIVE TIMES as much lead as a regular pencil. Plus, the woodless pencils have a pleasantly weighty feel, and the vivid pigments lay down smoothly no matter how much pressure you apply to paper.

The benefit of the pencils being woodless means that they are solid lead pigments and are long-lasting due to the whole core being solid pigment. Since there is no wood casing, woodless colored pencils are excellent for precise artwork as well as broad, loose strokes and shaking work. They can be sharpened with a traditional pencil sharpener (we included one in the Colored Pencil Roll), and we encourage you to save the shavings and use them for smudging and blending colors.

The solid lead is injected with special oils to allow dense, vivid strokes of color to come off when applied to the paper. As the entirety of the pencil is an oil-based pigment, they have a weighty feel and enable the user to quickly cover large surface areas with varying shades, as well as create fine lines and details using the pointed tip. They are long lasting and compliment other media such as oil pastels, watercolors, or collage.

The lacquer coating protects the pigment and there is little pigment wastage!
