I wanted to share a very simple yet powerful ritual that has transformed my day-to-day life: the walk and create routine.

It’s as simple as it sounds: at some point during the day, I take a break from the computer screen, walk around the block, taking pleasure in the multi-sensory experience - the smells of flowers, sounds of birds chirping, the sight of a waning sun.

What makes the experience even more restorative is documenting something beautiful that I discover on my walk - mostly flowers but sometimes it’s a tree or interesting shaped leaf. I will either snap a photo of whatever it is that I want to draw or try to draw it from memory if I leave my phone at home. Either way, the process of creatively documenting something simple yet beautiful is a deeply grounding and meaningful experience. It’s a small act of creativity but one that can offer lasting effects.

Using our Watercolor Kit and postcards I created quick studies of a few moments of beauty that I discovered on my walk.
